BAW was founded in 1958 as Beijing Automobile Works and quickly earned a reputation for rugged off-road vehicles. Its landmark model, the BJ212 light SUV, became one of China’s first domestically developed 4×4s and remains in production today as the BJ2020. Over the years, BAW expanded its lineup to include civilian SUVs, pickups and light commercial trucks, meeting the needs of rural and urban customers alike.
