About BYD
BYD began in 1995 as “Build Your Dreams,” founded by engineer Wang Chuanfu to produce rechargeable batteries in Shenzhen. The company entered the automotive arena in 2003 and quickly pivoted toward electrified transport, launching plug-in hybrids like the F3DM in 2008. Its modern lineup includes the Han luxury sedan, Tang SUV, Dolphin compact hatchback and Seal performance EV. In recent years BYD has claimed the top spot in global electric-vehicle sales, outpacing established rivals and expanding into Europe with local assembly in Hungary. Notable for its blade-battery design—praised for safety and energy density—BYD continues to integrate vertically across cells, packs and vehicles, positioning itself as a leader in affordable mass-market and premium electric mobility.
