Cupra, originally SEAT’s motorsport division, became a standalone brand in 2018, focusing on performance and electric vehicles. Its debut model, the Cupra Ateca (2018), featured a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 310 PS and all-wheel drive. The Cupra Formentor crossover (2020) became the brand’s best-seller, offering both gasoline and plug-in hybrid variants. In 2022, Cupra launched the Born EV, based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, delivering a 77 kWh battery and 540 km WLTP range. Cupra sold over 100,000 units in 2023, targeting ev-enthusiasts.
