Dodge was founded on December 14, 1900, as the Dodge Brothers Company by John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge in Detroit, Michigan, initially supplying chassis and engine parts to Ford and Oldsmobile. In 1914, the brothers began building complete automobiles, pioneering all-steel bodies and 12-volt electrical systems. Iconic models include the Charger and Challenger muscle cars, the Durango SUV and the Ram pickup, before Ram became its own marque. Today, as a performance-focused division of Stellantis North America, Dodge saw U.S. sales grow 5 percent to 199,458 units in 2023, driven by strong demand for the Charger and Durango. Its “Brotherhood of Muscle” positioning and HEMI V8 engines underscore Dodge’s enduring appeal.
