About Great Wall

Great Wall Motor Company Limited, named after the Great Wall of China, was founded in 1984 in Baoding, Hebei. Under chairman Wei Jianjun, appointed in 1990, the company grew from a local truck maker into China’s leading SUV and pickup manufacturer. In 2024, GWM sold 1.23 million vehicles globally, including 322 000 new‑energy vehicles and 453 000 exports. Its brand portfolio spans Haval SUVs, Wingle pickups, Ora EVs and Tank off‑roaders. Great Wall operates R&D centres in Baoding and joint ventures such as Spotlight Automotive with BMW to build electric Minis. A 2025 strategy adds an ultra‑luxury unit and expands Russian assembly to 200 000 units, cementing its global ambitions.
