Haima Automobile Co., Ltd. was established in 1992 in Haikou, Hainan, as a joint venture between the Hainan provincial government and Mazda to manufacture Mazda‑based models. After FAW acquired Mazda’s stake in 2006, Haima retained the name—a contraction of “Hainan” and “Mazda”—and diversified into its own designs. Iconic models include the Mazda‑derived 7 SUV, the M3 hatchback and the S5 crossover. The brand operates three plants in Hainan and sells across Mainland China, with exports to Southeast Asia. Haima also competes in the China Touring Car Championship, boosting its motorsport credentials and engineering expertise.
