About Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, officially established in 1970, traces its automotive lineage to Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., which produced the Model A in 1917. As a standalone entity, Mitsubishi Motors quickly made a mark with the Colt compact in the 1960s and the Galant sedan. The brand achieved global acclaim with the Lancer Evolution series (1992–2016), featuring advanced all-wheel-drive systems and turbocharged engines that dominated World Rally Championship events. The Pajero/Montero line (1982–present) set benchmarks for off-road capability and luxury, while the Outlander crossover (2001–present) became one of its best-selling global models. Mitsubishi was also an early adopter of electrification, launching the i-MiEV in 2009, one of the world’s first mass-produced electric cars. In 2023, Mitsubishi Motors sold over 1.1 million vehicles worldwide, maintaining significant operations in Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Interesting note: the limited-edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI TME (2001) set a Nürburgring lap time record for sedans that stood for many years.
