About Weltmeister

Weltmeister is an electric-vehicle brand created in 2015 by Freeman Shen and his team under Shanghai’s WM Motor Technology. The company rolled out its first model, the EX5 compact SUV, at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, followed by the larger EX6, the urban-focused W6 crossover and the E5 midsize sedan. Built at its Wenzhou facility on a modular skateboard platform, these vehicles combine modern styling, connected-car software and range-extender options for longer trips. Although backed early on by technology investors, the brand faced industry-wide challenges and entered pre-restructuring in late 2023. Production paused as the company reorganized, but WM Motor’s innovations in affordable EV platforms and its ambition to export under the Weltmeister name continue to influence China’s electric mobility sector.
