Xiaomi Auto was founded on September 1, 2021 in Beijing as a wholly owned electric-vehicle subsidiary of Xiaomi Corporation by Lei Jun. It launched its first model—the SU7 full-size electric sedan—on March 28, 2024, followed by the high-performance SU7 Ultra and plans for the MX11 SUV in early 2025. By the end of 2024, Xiaomi Auto had sold over 136,000 vehicles through 200 retail stores across 58 Chinese cities via a direct-sales model that sees 30 percent of orders placed online without test drives. Under Lei Jun’s leadership, the brand handles all hardware and software development in-house and aims to deliver 300,000 EVs in 2025.
