Founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. emerged after Ferruccio’s dissatisfaction with his Ferrari ownership, leading him to commission a grand touring car with superior comfort and performance. The result was the 350 GT, unveiled at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show, featuring a steel tubular frame and a Maserati-derived V12 engine. Lamborghini revolutionized supercar design with the Miura (1966), the first production mid-engined road car, and introduced scissor doors on the Countach (1974), establishing its distinctive aesthetic. Subsequent flagship models include the Diablo (1990), Murciélago (2001), Gallardo (2003), Aventador (2011), and Huracán (2014). In 2018, Lamborghini entered the SUV market with the Urus, which quickly became its best-selling model, contributing to global annual deliveries of approximately 8,000 units. Owned by Volkswagen Group’s Audi division since 1998, Lamborghini combines artisanal craftsmanship with cutting-edge materials such as carbon fibre and forged composites. The Miura’s transverse mid-engine layout set the template for all subsequent supercars from multiple manufacturers.
