MG (Morris Garages) was founded in 1924 by William Morris in Oxford, England, originally as a sideline sales and demonstration arm of Morris Motors, focusing on tuning and customizing vehicles. The brand gained international fame after World War II with the MG TC sports car (1945–1950), which pioneered the enthusiastic import of British roadsters into North America. In subsequent decades, MG introduced the MGA (1955–1962), known for its sleek styling and improved chassis, and the MGB (1962–1980), which sold over half a million units with its 1.8-liter engine and simple yet effective design. After several ownership changes, the MG marque was acquired by China’s SAIC Motor in 2007, leading to a modern revival that includes models such as the MG6 sedan, HS compact SUV, and the electric Marvel R crossover. In 2023, MG sold approximately 400,000 vehicles across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. MG’s heritage-inspired design and entry into electric vehicles reflect its enduring appeal and adaptability.
