Soueast Motor Co., Ltd., established in 1995 as Fujian Motor Industry Group’s joint venture with China Motor Corporation (Taiwan) and Mitsubishi Motors, commenced production in Fuzhou with Mitsubishi-licensed sedans and minivans. Its inaugural model, the Soueast C303 (Mitsubishi Savrin variant), entered the market in 2011, followed by the DX7 mid-size crossover in 2015, featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine co-developed with Mitsubishi. In 2023, Soueast sold over 200,000 vehicles domestically, leveraging Mitsubishi’s powertrain technology and local R&D. The company also fields the A5 Lux sedan and M80 MPV, targeting ride-hailing fleets. Interesting note: Soueast operates a dedicated motorsport division that competes in the China Touring Car Championship, using modified DX3 and DX7 models to refine its performance development.
